Tibor Gal Winery was established in 1993 in Eger, Verőszala street. Tibor Gál was the first who realised the significance of terroir based viticulture. On the basis of his expertise he searched for the most interesting and the best situated vineyards; then after the selection of grape varietals and clones, the plantation of 40 hectares area had started in three steps (1997, 1999, 2002). 

 

On 10th of February 2005 the founder, Tibor Gál tragically passed away during his consultancy work in South Africa. After the accident his family took over the management of the estate. In 2011 two silent partners joined the company who aimed to bring forward and continue the work and legacy of Tibor Gál. Since this year the professional management is lead by Tibor Gál Jr. With his foreign and domestic experiences the team of the winery is preparing the construction work of a modern processing plant in the middle of the vineyards. Nowadays, he is dreaming of creating a modern and attractive Bikavér Museum to develop tourism and strengthen the fame of „Egri Bikavér”. We are proud of our past and would like to be proud of our future, therefore the rebuilding has started…

 

The Gál Tibor Winery focuses on bringing back the reputation of unique style „Egri Bikavér” and to position the new white cuvée „Egri Csillag” on the market; as well as to establish a world standard ecological estate based on local values.
