Well-built, warm-hearted and with a good sense of humour – this is how Csaba Demeter can be described. The winemaker and his wife are raising two daughters. In his free time Csaba likes listening to music with Hungarian folk motifs. But his favourite foreign artist is from another style – he is Bob Marley. Eger is Csaba’s favourite Hungarian town; he cannot imagine living anywhere else. Thanks to his job he drinks wine every day, his favourite is XY. He recommends drinking wine at noon to accompany lunch and in the evening to create a good atmosphere.

 

 

Since 2009 there is an annual online voting for the best winemakers under the age of forty. In 2010 the winner wasCsaba Demeter with 4000 votes he defeated 58 rivals. The awards ceremony was also a charity evening; the Sports Club of Blind Students received the donations. It was a successful event because the offertory was two hundred thousand forints. With the amount members of the club are organizing a Passau (Germany) – Vienna (Austria) bike tour.

 

 

The wine region of Eger stretches over 6000 acres in the foot of the mountain Bükk. The specific characteristics of the wines of this region is given by the extraordinary climate, which is guaranteed on the one hand by the Bükk and the mountain Mátra, which protect the region from the cold, and on the other hand by the Great Plain, where the warm weather can stream freely from. The consistence of soil changes in every 150-200 meters in this region, which makes the production of different, high quality white and red wines possible. Demeter Csaba’s wine cellar was founded in 2000 with the goal to exploit these unique conditions and to combine the traditions with modern philosophy and with the modern methods of winemaking.
